Happily Ever After

Once upon a time, when I was a naive obedient kid i read a story....

It was a story about 2 girls...
There's a princess, living in a castle, everything are there, foods, dress, servants. This Princess doesn't know why she is get bore tough everythings are there....
There's a girl, living in a simple house, has to share foods with his siblings, used worn clothes, must to work hard everyday. This girl envy the princess so much....
One day, they are met somehow somewhere, and they decide to swap with each other because they are looks really similar like twin.
But after sometimes, the (ex) princess are really enjoying his life as a commoner, she doesn't have to involved with lot of boring protocol and ceremonial, and even the food or dress are not there but he has warmth family and enjoy dinner together while laughing out of loud.
And the the (new) princess enjoy his new life only for some few days (or weeks) but after that she just realized she's not as happier as she think before, and even it's not happy at all, she miss her old family....
And the end of story are they are return back to their original position and become bestfriend (this ending is not really important, it's only for kid, so everythings are ended with good things)

The morale of story when i was kid is, just happy with what you have, i think this kind of story was made as an excuse to parents that they can not fulfill everything wanted by their children =p

It was when I was a Kid......

Now... I am not a Kid anymore, I'm still naive sometimes, but not really obedient....

I was going to a golf course in a middle of mountain last week, with my bosses and their guests, and I saw people there are living slowly.... (I prefer to use slowly than relax or something, because when I was there I feel time being slowed....)
It is not like urban life, not haunting by email, internet, phone call, etc
The golf course is old enough, and have a very good air, atmosphere, and everything, and I saw some people working there.....
May be they dont make a lot of money, don't meet a lot of person everyday, maybe being alone for the whole 8 hours of their shift everyday, don't use branded or high quality stuff.
But what I saw in their face are they are quite happy with their life, they can smile like human smile, not robot smile like we used to face in urban city......

I don't judge it's better than urban life, but even tough it's a simple life they have their own happiness.... (which may be more happier than people live in luxury mansion, I just wonder it)

And I read also another story some years ago, about city people come to a village and meet a fisher... (from Anthonny De Mello's book)

City People: What are you doing?

Fisher: I'm sitting here, resting

City People: Why are you sitting here resting, it is still to early to going back to land... you can cath more fish there

Fisher: Why I have to? I have catch enough fish to sell for get some food to eat for today

City People: If you catch more fish, you can get more money, you can buy a motor boat, if you have motor boat, you can catch more fish, and if you catch more fish you can buy big boat, and if you have big boat you can catch lot of fish and pay people to work for you, and you can life with relax

Fisher: What do you think I'm doing now?

cheers =D

I like that story.... tough I'm also that kind of City People, but it make me realize, there's a lot of things in the world except moneys (and his friends) needed to live happily ever after....
P.S the photo may not really related with the story, it was a photo of the golf course, it's a really nice place =D

World In a Cup

Last December (2008) I went to Jenggala (Ceramic Shop) with my fiancee and I painted a Cup there (she paint some kind of jewelry box), i was late that day, i arrived there about 3.oo pm, so i only had about 1.5 hours to paint the cup.
The concept is 'World in a Cup'. A circle when we are in. Very close circle of ours. World in a cup is my concept for small world of ours. I'm quite poor on drawing, so you can see the result hahaha, but i love it ! Hope you can enjoy it also.

Before I was jealous if someone has a lot of friends (some I think are too many, why they didn't introduce me some.... hahaha) I was self pity that i can not make friends with people. But it's only a story now.

I think i have to say 'thank you very much' to some people i knew in my university years, they are kind of easy going persons, I was trying very hard to be accepted with people back then but I found out, just be myself and i don't have to push myself too hard to be accepted by everyone, I just realize that before I was too greedy, I don't want a cup, I want a giant bowl, I wanted to be accepted by everyone which is impossible (even Obama has some people who can not accept him!) So I started to be graceful with what I already had. And I got more friends and easily to communicate with human beings after that. Such a revelation for me. hehehehe

Until now, still, I'm not a person with a lot of friends but I have had some small cups of mine.
I have my colleagues friends, i have my gaming friends, I have my old old friends, people from work, etc. And sometime in a live the cup is collide each other. And I like when my friends from other groups meet with others.

Friendship is unnecessary, like philosophy, like art... It has no survival value; rather it is one of those things that give value to survival. (C. S. Lewis)

So have you keep some cups of yours?

Narcism Epidemic

Few weeks ago before i got the dengue fever (that took 2 weeks of my precious time) I visit a book store and found an interesting book. I didn't buy it due to its quite expensive price, but i read the review on the back cover and took a photo.

Yes, that book's title is "Living in the Age of Entitlement - The Narcissism Epidemic"

These days we surrounded by people that really really proud of themselves, either subconsciously or even 100% sober that they are proud of themselves too much. And loving it excessively. You can meet these kind of person everywhere, in your school, office, shoping centre, mall, facebook, everywhere !

Is it technology that make people like this? or because this is the age who people really need to be recognized? or it just happen?

In my opinion, despite of technology like digital camera, cellphone, or facebook/friendster that tremendously develop these day. Deep inside we already born with some narcissistic. And like the book title Age of Entitlement, I totally agree with the book title eventough i've not read it.

The easiest example, now we can see lot of young girls take naked photos of theirself, only for fun, only because they love their body, people say it's because of the technology, but i don't believe it. (Not only ladies, man also has narcissistic actually, but i prefer talk about girls, can't imagine seeing naked guy, HOEKKK)

What happen if digital camera invented 1-2 century before?
I believe if it was happen, now we can see narcissistic photo from the ladies of that age now.
Technology is only the catalyst, narcissistic is one of our nature as we prefer some praise than critics.

Narcissistic is become lifestyle these days, hedonist (yeach in my opinion hedonist is one of the main cause of narcissistic) people show of theirself not only for getting attention from other people, but because they love it, they love to exploit theirself to the edge without consider any risk of it. Narcissistic is very risky, starting from the early beginning, the origin of narcissistic is coming from a story:

(from wikipedia)

Roman version

In the tale told by Ovid, thought to have been based on Parthenius' version but altered in order to broaden its appeal,[4] Echo, a nymph, falls in love with a vain youth named Narcissus, who was the son of the blue Nymph Liriope of Thespia. The river god Cephisus had once encircled Leirope with the windings of his streams, and thus trapping her, had seduced the nymph, who gave birth to an exceptionally beautiful boy. Concerned about the welfare of such a beautiful child, Lirope consulted the prophet Teiresias regarding her son's future. Teiresias told the nymph that Narcissus would live to a ripe old age, "if he didn't come to know himself."

When he had reached "his sixteenth year," (fifteen years of age, by modern reckoning) every youth and girl in the town was in love with him, but he haughtily spurned them all.

One day when Narcissus was out hunting stags, Echo stealthily followed the handsome youth through the woods, longing to address him but unable to speak first. When Narcissus finally heard footsteps and shouted "Who's there?", Echo answered "Who's there?" And so it went, until finally Echo showed herself and rushed to embrace the lovely youth. He pulled away from the nymph and vainly told her to leave him alone. Narcissus left Echo heartbroken and she spent the rest of her life in lonely glens, pining away for the love she never knew, until only her voice remained.

Nemesis heard this prayer and sent Narcissus his punishment. He came across a deep pool in a forest, from which he took a drink. As he did, he saw his reflection for the first time in his life and fell in love with the beautiful boy he was looking at, not realizing it was himself. Eventually, after pining away for a while, he realized that the image he saw in the pool was a reflection of himself. Realizing that he could not act upon this love, he tore at his dress and beat at his body, his life force draining out of him. As he died, the bodyless Echo came upon him and felt sorrow and pity. His soul was sent to "the darkest hell" and the narcissus flower grew where he died. It is said that Narcissus still keeps gazing on his image in the waters of the river Styx.[4]

So even it is only myth story, the origin of narcissistic is kill someone, hahaha, narcissistic can kill some one, beware ! control your self =p

Cheers
