Narcism Epidemic

Few weeks ago before i got the dengue fever (that took 2 weeks of my precious time) I visit a book store and found an interesting book. I didn't buy it due to its quite expensive price, but i read the review on the back cover and took a photo.

Yes, that book's title is "Living in the Age of Entitlement - The Narcissism Epidemic"

These days we surrounded by people that really really proud of themselves, either subconsciously or even 100% sober that they are proud of themselves too much. And loving it excessively. You can meet these kind of person everywhere, in your school, office, shoping centre, mall, facebook, everywhere !

Is it technology that make people like this? or because this is the age who people really need to be recognized? or it just happen?

In my opinion, despite of technology like digital camera, cellphone, or facebook/friendster that tremendously develop these day. Deep inside we already born with some narcissistic. And like the book title Age of Entitlement, I totally agree with the book title eventough i've not read it.

The easiest example, now we can see lot of young girls take naked photos of theirself, only for fun, only because they love their body, people say it's because of the technology, but i don't believe it. (Not only ladies, man also has narcissistic actually, but i prefer talk about girls, can't imagine seeing naked guy, HOEKKK)

What happen if digital camera invented 1-2 century before?
I believe if it was happen, now we can see narcissistic photo from the ladies of that age now.
Technology is only the catalyst, narcissistic is one of our nature as we prefer some praise than critics.

Narcissistic is become lifestyle these days, hedonist (yeach in my opinion hedonist is one of the main cause of narcissistic) people show of theirself not only for getting attention from other people, but because they love it, they love to exploit theirself to the edge without consider any risk of it. Narcissistic is very risky, starting from the early beginning, the origin of narcissistic is coming from a story:

When Narcissus finally heard footsteps and shouted "Who's there?", Echo answered "Who's there?" And so it went, until finally Echo showed herself and rushed to embrace the lovely youth. He pulled away from the nymph and vainly told her to leave him alone. Narcissus left Echo heartbroken and she spent the rest of her life in lonely glens, pining away for the love she never knew, until only her voice remained.

Nemesis heard this prayer and sent Narcissus his punishment. He came across a deep pool in a forest, from which he took a drink. As he did, he saw his reflection for the first time in his life and fell in love with the beautiful boy he was looking at, not realizing it was himself. Eventually, after pining away for a while, he realized that the image he saw in the pool was a reflection of himself. Realizing that he could not act upon this love, he tore at his dress and beat at his body, his life force draining out of him. As he died, the bodyless Echo came upon him and felt sorrow and pity. His soul was sent to "the darkest hell" and the narcissus flower grew where he died. It is said that Narcissus still keeps gazing on his image in the waters of the river Styx.[4]

So even it is only myth story, the origin of narcissistic is kill someone, hahaha, narcissistic can kill some one, beware ! control your self =p

Description

Take dalam bahasa jepang berarti bambu, dan memang kesan bambu ini yang kental terlihat ketika kita masuk ke dalam restoran jepang ini. Juga suasana yang familiar, tidak seperti restoran-restoran jepang pada umumnya yang terkesan formal. Seperti tampak dalam foto (lantai 2 Take).


Take menyediakan berbagai jenis sake dan sochu jepang, dengan atmosphere nya yang familiar sekali dan service yang cukup OK untuk sebuah restoran, menjadikan dia tempat kongkow dan ngobrol yang asik banget (walaupun tanpa sake, saya sendiri tidak minum alkohol).
Makanan yang disajikan juga sangat bervariasi, mulai dari sashimi dan nigiri sushi untuk starter, ,berbagai main course yang nyummy banget, dan beberapa pilihan desert (cobain dorayaki nya, enak lho)

Untuk sashimi tersedia sashimi lokal dan import, kemaren makan dengan ozeki import (sashimi untuk 3-4 orang, dengan perahu kecil kena 460 ribu dan tenjin-nigiri sushi 98 ribu)
Harga dikenakan tax dan service sekitar 15 persen

Tidak ada special menu di Take, karena semua memang enak hahaha

Pilihan favorite saya sendiri di Take untuk main course adalah:
- Nabeyaki Udon
- Unagi don buri
- Bim bi bab (nasi campurnya korea)
- Curry Udon (yang ini favourite boss saya)

Side dish:
- ikayaki
- sejenis kerang di masak di sake, so nyummy
- King crab
- Zaru udon/soba (enak dia punya)
- Miso soup (lebih enak lagi kalau pesen sashimi set macem ozeki dapat baby lobster di sashimi kepalanya bisa minta di jadiin sop)

Dan tentu saja sashimi dan sushi, karena varian sashimi dan sushi yang ditawarkan sangat beragam, luckily kalau makan dengan bos selalu pesen kapal2an jadi saya pernah mencoba hampir semua, favorit saya tentu saja salmon, white marlin dan baby lobster. nyam nyam.

Story

Berawal dari Boss yang mau ketemu dengan teman Jepangnya akhirnya diputuskan untuk makan malam di take, saya sendiri karena kelaparan sibuk dengan sashimi di depan mata, dan boss saya ngobrol dengan bahasa jepang dengan temannya dan saya cuma cengok aja, untung ada beberapa percakapan dengan bahasa inggris yang cukup menarik untuk didengarkan. Dan juga untung saja ada teman dari kantor dan henpon di tangan sehingga saya ga bosen bosen banget. (Orang Jepang dan Korea kalo makan sambil minum bisa sampe 2-3 jam duduk ngobrol hahaha)

Akhirnya sashimi yang seharusnya menjadi fast food kita jadikan slow food banget, alhasil main course datang agak malam, dan karena kelaparan saya lupa buat ambil foto beef curry rice (pilihan main course malam itu). Karena itu cukuplah foto minumannya aja ya =p (ocha dingin)


Sebenarnya Take adalah restoran favorit bos-bos saya dikarenakan dengan lokasinya yang sangat dekat dengan kantor, dan juga harganya yang relatif murah menurut mereka (karena rasa berbanding kualitas yang TOP banget, menurut mereka lagi, buat gw seh masih mahal huhuhu)

Maaf buat photo2 yang rada buram karena ngambilnya pake hp, photo2 lain akan di update kalau saya makan ke sana lagi, tunggu aja ! hehehe =p

This place is VERY RECOMMENDED lho, jangan bayangin makanan jepangnya sushi tei kalo di sini, jauhhhhhhhhh banget, terutama sushi2annya, padahal harganya ga beda jauh, mahalan dikit aja. ehhehe. kalo ke bali wajib mampir neh, lom lagi liat yg punya lucu, ompong gitu hahaha

Ayam Goreng Plengkung - Sambel Uleg, begitu tertulis di papan nama rumah makan plengkung ini. Menu andalan mereka sendiri adalah ayam penyet, walau mereka juga menyajikan varian menu yang cukup beragam bahkan ada t-bone steak segala karena cukup banyak orang asing yang makan di sini terutama orang jepang, tapi tetap ayam penyet adalah pilihan utama yang harus anda coba jika sempat bertandang ke rumah makan ini. Suasana Plengkung ini cukup nyaman, terutama di malam hari karena ada live music (lagu-lagu jadul, sesuai selera pemilik haha) dan mereka juga memisahkan ruangan untuk smoking dan non smoking.

Story
Berawal dari orang rumah yang masak soto betawi dan saya sedang tidak selera untuk makan santan karena masalah perut, akhirnya saya memutuskan untuk makan pagi menjelang siang (jam 11.00 gitu lho) di plengkung. Saya sendiri terbilang sering makan di plengkung (bisa sampai 3-4 kali dalam sebulan) karena lokasinya yang cukup dekat dengan kantor (10 menit dengan mobil) dan ayam penyetnya yang mantab selalu menggugah selera (sebenarnya seh ayam penyetnya tidak se enak kalau makan ayam penyet di daerah jawa timur, tapi masih termasuk kategori enak). Berikut menu makan siang gw hari ini =D



Sayur asam dan ayam penyet, sayur asam di plengkung cukup unik, warnanya bening tidak seperti pada sayur asam pada umumnya (gw rasa dia pakai cuka sebagai pengganti buah asam) dan rasanya pun segerrrrr banget. Jadi jika anda sedang berada dibali dan kangen dengan masakan ayam penyet, plengkung adalah salah satu tempat yang sangat saya rekomendasikan.

Nyepi

It was dark, only I and the stars above shone accompany with the moonlight ^^

When people around the world campaign about earth hour (turning off the lamp for 1 hour on 28th march) people in Bali turning off the lamp (supposed to be) for the whole day on Thursday, 26tth we have Nyepi here in Bali.

Nyepi is a new year for Hindu People, they are using Caka Calendar, I'm not hindu so i don't know exactly what is Nyepi, but from my experience living in bali since i was a baby. I can tell that Hindu people actually have to fasting for the whole day. And the day before nyepi is called "ngrupuk" usually they hold a carnival, they make a lot of noisy sound, and make monster (very big sometimes) from papers, linen, plastic, etc (materials that easy to burn because at the end of the day they have to burn them), unfortunately this year the Government prohibited that carnival, because we have election this year, and that kind of carnival is easy to be used for campaign which can easily make a fighting between groups also.


But in my opinion the practice is not really good, in the nite of "ngrupuk" lot of young people having kind of spontaneous stage and having kind of small and party with alcohol. Usually it is the group from neighborhood about 20-30 persons. I'm a little bit confusing with what they are doing, what the point for having all nite long drink alcohol when tomorrow they have to be fasting (yeach there's a point actually, with make theirself drunken they can automatically fasting tomorrow, because they are even to drunk for waking up hahaha) and that practice is totally different with ngrupuk philosophy, as i know the meaning of ngrupuk is to make noisy sound to scare the bad monster, bad spirit, etc. But with party like that, doesn't it invite the monster to theirself, so no wonder if in ngrupuk nite there's an fighting case, it's a normal things in Bali these day.

For me Nyepi is a day in one year that I alwasy waiting for. I love the feeling to be one with nature in nyepi (even if you are living in the middle of city), and luckily nyepi this year I'm almost alone in my house (almost because all of my family were in Jakata, and I only accompanied by some pembantu).
I love watching the stars from veranda, it's really cool because there's no other light except stars and moon, you have to experienced nyepi yourself to get the feeling !
You can feel the solitude in the positive way.....

And when nyepi comes I always reminiscing my childhood, when nyepi I always have football games on the mainstreet in the afternoon with neighborhood kids (I did until i become 12 years old), and sometimes some pecalang (banjar officer) will scold our parents for letting us playing on the street (not scolding actually because we are living in the same neighborhood and know each other well, they only did what they have to do). hahaha. what a day ^_^p.

We love our childhood, we love to live in ignorance, don't we?

my tips if you are going to Bali in nyepi day, just living in your relatives house instead of Hotels, it's better, believe me!
